You can't walk down a laneway or street without being encased by beautiful architecture, perfectly designed furniture or cafes & restaurants where the delights on offer are a not just delicious but are visually delightful.
Melbourne is a melting pot of creativity, and has a strong ever growing culture of locally made, designed and produced items.
Given we live in such a wonderful city where design and locally made is part of our culture, we were shocked to find it so incredibly difficult to source thought-out, hand crafted toys and homewares for our children.
Herein Miss Maker Market was born, on our searches we were constantly coming across brilliant emerging ma and pa brands, creating unique and exciting items of impeccable quality, items designed to be loved, held, enjoyed and passed down.
We discovered that all over Melbourne there are makers hunched over tables and machines, baking, creating and building, whilst caring for their children and families.
The idea of moving away from the fast paced, consume and discard lifestyle and embracing the slow make, non tech play is incredibly exciting to us.
We appreciate the value in Parent/Carer makers and see the merits in their work, and the love that goes into creating, the honesty and also the sanity that it brings to their wonderfully chaotic child filled lives.
