South Yarra Market
Only a short walk from Chapel Street is a warm and toasty warehouse where you’ll find South Yarra’s first undercover fashion/art/music market.
Launched on 4 June 2011, with stalls stocking fashion (new and vintage) and artwork from emerging local talent, plus an eclectic mix of anything music related (vinyl, vintage, instruments etc), South Yarra Market is set to become a weekend institution.
You'll find the usual market fare, minus the fruit and veg and ‘eccentric’ folk flogging their broken pots and pans, musty old tupperware and ‘amazing’ craftwork. Reminiscent of London’s sprawling Spital fields, here you’ll find stalls full of goods you’ll actually want to buy - no more sifting through trash in search of elusive treasure.
South Yarra Market has been conceived primarily as a venue to support our up and coming local designers, musos and artists, a familiar concept for the energetic young trio behind the new venture.
Kicking off at the highly civilised hour of 11am, South Yarra Market is just the place to while away your weekends and score yourself a bargain.
Hungry? Indulge in some mini dutch pancakes (poffertjes) or hearty soup, and fight off the winter chills with hot mulled wine or columbian coffee.
Dogs on their best behaviour on a leash are welcome.
