Art of Elegance Fair

The second Art of Elegance Fair, due to growth after the first, will be held at the Maryborough Town Hall, Neill Street, Maryborough in the Victorian Goldfields.  Continuing on as a boutique Fair, the event will retain the quality experience when it follows the seasonal calendar, and runs the second Sunday of the last month in each season.  Next Fair:

Autumn – Sunday 13th May, 2012 - Maryborough Town Hall

Maryborough Town Hall is a grand heritage protected building covering eras of history from Victorian to Art Deco.  The interior is being restored to its original colours, to enhance the design and feel.  Historic interior lovers who have not seen it before are in for a treat, as a paint colour palette which includes such hues as sky lodge blue and pheasant brown is being applied.   The Art of Elegance Fair will salute the Victorian Goldfields roots which made the town, and the people who steered it toward a civic wool-rich backbone, through the roaring Deco Twenties and beyond.  Movie themes will again be used, vintage clothing will feature, as will interiors, art, floral displays, music and decor.  The Main Hall will be devoted to display traders who will style their space to vintage and movie inspired themes, using authentic props and items for collecting and sale from the various periods of time, from Regency through to 1960′s.

Lewis Carroll’s 1865 tale “Alice in Wonderland” will lend its cavalcade of  fun themes to the Fair for all ages, with a themed “Mini Mad Hatter High Tea” catered by Fairytale Frostings of Nolan Street (see below for booking details).  In keeping with this theme, and because they were so much commented on at Summer Fair, hats will feature, with a prize given for the best design.   Patrons will go “down the rabbit hole” and experience the Lower Town Hall as the “Dance Hall” where traders on white linen topped tables present home and lifestyle collectibles, the backstage rooms as a ”Precious Little Arcade” where they can experience installation art and Makes of small and precious origins.  The Stage will host the “Antique Flower Vase Display”, music, and other kinds of historical features, more details soon.  Bear with us as we shape the Fair and don’t forget to mark the diary dates to be part of it all.

Entry: $10 pp, $7 conc. (with i.d.), under 16 free entry with adults.   (Collectible Ticket is an all day pass out.)
