Naturally Being Pty Ltd launches myMarkets Vic for the iPhone – Naturally Being a winner in the world’s biggest government apps competition.
myMarkets Vic iPhone app Developed by Naturally Being Pty Ltd receives major award in the Victorian Government “App My State” Competition, this app helps find Victorian Markets in one easy to use iPhone app.
Easy one click guide to today’s markets; discover which craft, farmer’s or country market is open today, what times and where you can find it. View markets by user ratings, if you like a market you can vote for it.
The “Free” myMarkets Vic app is easy and informative, designed to allow locals and visitors alike to engage in market communities and share their personal experiences.
Presenting the awards at the State Library of Victoria, Premier John Brumby said he was impressed with the quality and diversity of the entries received in the competition, demonstrating Victoria’s strong ICT talent base.
“App My State, the world’s biggest government apps competition, received 170 entries including 74 application entries and 96 application ideas from Victoria’s IT experts and novices alike,” Mr Brumby said.
myMarkets Vic app is both a social and an informational tool. Using real-time feedback and powerful market rankings driven by user ratings, the app shows market patrons what’s hot and perhaps what’s not so hot. Comments and photos can also be uploaded, and you’ll find all the market information you might need: opening times, contact details, location, map information and more.
“Congratulations on the award. This innovative app is a great way to help people locate Victorian Farmers’ Markets and will soon include the Accreditation Program’s symbol of authenticity which allows customers to identify genuine farmers’ markets” said Sarah Robins from the Victorian Farmers’ Markets Association.
The market data was extracted from Markets in Victoria (http://data.vic.gov.au/raw_data/markets-in-victoria/96) created by the Department of Planning and Community Development with the Creative Commons License (CC – Attribution 2.5 Australia) and enriched manually with the aid of a number of volunteers.
What is App My State? App My State is a competition to build mobile and web applications that will benefit Victorians. Premier John Brumby launched the competition on 26 February 2010.
